What happens on cloudy days or at night?

Q: What happens on cloudy days or at night?

A: Solar panels work best in direct sunlight, but they can still produce some electricity on cloudy days — just at a reduced rate. On rainy or overcast days, your system may generate less power, and at night, it won’t produce any at all since there’s no sunlight. During those times, your home will automatically draw electricity from the grid. If you have a solar battery, you can store extra energy generated during the day and use it when the sun isn't shining. This gives you more control over your power use and helps reduce reliance on the grid.
